About Us

The Altrincham centre opened  in September 2002 and has helped many children in the Hale, Altrincham and Sale areas. The centre is a spacious, well-resourced, pleasant working environment, staffed with professional,  well-qualified teachers. 

The centre is run by Michael and Jane Ford, both are fully qualified teachers with many years experience in local secondary and primary schools.

Kip McGrath in Altrincham has established an excellent reputation for high quality tutoring, improved test results and helping students to build their self confidence, whilst developing independent study skills.

What We Do

At Kip McGrath we provide professional tuition in Maths, English, Reading and spelling for 6 to 16 year olds.  Help is also available for pupils working towards specific exams e.g. SAT's, 11+, Entrance Exams and GCSE's.

We also run a popular entrance exam / 11 + summer school, for children in year 5 who are interested in sitting entrance exams for the local Grammar schools.

Before we can develop an individually tailored programme to suit a student's specific needs, an assessment is carried out. This takes about one hour, is free of charge and without any obligation.
 

The results are then discussed in confidence and from these results an individual programme of study is devised.

Students use structured worksheets, workbooks, computer programmes (and audio cassettes for reading work) during the sessions. These take place after school and at weekends, and are 80 minutes long.

Homework is also given which supports the students learning. This is marked and discussed at the following session.

Students are taught on a one to one basis within a small group. At the end of each session the tutor will discuss what the student has done and the progress made. Children are given the opportunity to increase their self esteem and confidence, in an atmosphere of encouragement, where learning is fun.
