Canterbury Centre Details

About Us

Kip McGrath Canterbury is located in Dover Street, off Upper Bridge Street (the A28 ring road) five minutes’ walk from the Bus Station and Whitefriars. Holman’s Meadow car park is nearby.

The centre is run by Peter Whisson, who was born and brought up in Ashford, Kent. After qualifying for the teaching profession he spent the earlier part of his career teaching English overseas, including Saudi Arabia and Singapore. In recent years he has taught in secondary schools in East Kent.

What We Do

Kip McGrath Canterbury provides tuition in English and Maths from Early Reading and Numeracy to GCSE. We help students who are falling behind and lacking in confidence at school, to those who are ahead and can benefit from broader work.

The process begins with a visit of parent and child to the centre and a free assessment to ascertain the child’s level in English and/or Maths. If the child needs extra tuition, a start date is fixed for the child to come to the centre for a weekly lesson. A lesson lasts 80 minutes, and is normally made up of a variety of related exercises, some with paper and pencil, and some on computer. We offer guidance and feedback promptly, and tailor the programme to the individual.

At Kip McGrath our aim is to help all who come to the Centre experience the pleasure of making real progress towards defined goals.
