About Us
Welcome to Kip McGrath Education Guildford Tutors at the heart of Guildford Town Centre, over the Party Shop in Milkhouse Gate.
We provide professional Maths and English tuition in Guildford by qualified, caring teachers for children aged 6–16. We open every weekday from 3.45 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9.30 a.m.
All our tutors are fully qualified, CRB-checked teachers with classroom teaching experience. The Guildford centre director, Mark Norris, has over 30 years of primary and secondary teaching experience, including as a head of department at Cranmore School, Downside and Wellington College. He also set up and ran a thriving language school in eastern Europe during the 1990s.
What We Do
At Guildford Kip McGrath Education Centre we tutor at every level, whether working to overcome specific learning difficulties, preparing for examinations such as SATs, Common Entrance or GCSE or simply giving children the fresh challenges they need to extend their study skills. Each child is taught independently of others within a group of no more than four or five students. Sessions are highly motivational; lessons are individually planned and targeted for each child so that students do not compete with one another or feel pressured; they are constantly encouraged and praised by their tutor for their personal efforts and progress. The weekly 80-minute sessions are taught after school or on Saturday mornings. Initial assessment is free, and from this an individual learning plan is prepared in order to address each child’s specific needs. Teaching children in small groups of four or five enables us to provide all the benefits of individual tuition within a supportive group, whilst at the same time helping them build self-confidence and encouraging the development of autonomous learning. Homework is also set after every lesson to encourage children to continue practising and consolidating at home the skills which they have learnt during the session.
Children love coming to Kip McGrath. The atmosphere is relaxed, welcoming and fun. They enjoy the individual attention of a tutor as they make progress through their graded study plan, and their confidence at school grows as their study skills improve.
